Mulligan Sets a New Academy High

Mariner junior thrower Tara Mulligan was the lone competitor at the Army Strong Throwing Series on Monday in her quest to qualify for the ECAC Championships. The event, held at The United States Military Academy, West Point, had stellar competition which included 2012 Olympic hopefuls such as former men's USA champion in the Hammer Throw, Thomas Freeman,  the Costa Rican National Record Holder, Roberto Sawyers and Puerto Rican National Champion, Wilfredo de Jesus.

Mulligan was about one meter short of the ECAC qualification mark prior to the meet, made up about half of that distance with a new personal best and new Academy Record throw of 42.94m (140'11"). This is the fourth time this season that Mulligan has set a new Academy Record in this event and marks the 30th time an Academy Record has been surpassed by our women's program this season alone.
