And the Records Just Keep on Coming

In crushing four more Academy Records this past weekend the women have increased the total of new records in this indoor season to 16. New records were set in the Weight Throw, the 60m Hurdles, the 4x200m Relay and the 4x400m Relay. The Mariners competed at the Susquehanna Invitational against Salisbury University, Susquehanna University, Towson University, The Catholic University, York College (PA), Goucher College, Frostburg State University, University of Pittsburgh – Johnstown, Moravian College, McDaniel College and Stevenson College.

JR Tara Mulligan shot up the Conference Ranks with her best effort to date in the Weight Throw. She is now ranked 2nd in the conference with a legitimate shot at the individual conference championship in that event. Her mark of 13.31m added nearly two feet to her former Academy Record now giving her the top six throws and 14 of the top 20 throws all-time at USMMA. Tara placed third overall at the meet to two national qualifiers from Salisbury University.

FR Michelle Danhoff improved her Academy Record in the 60m Hurdles once again, dropping her mark by 4/10ths of a second coming across the line in 10.93. Michelle's time qualified for finals and placed her 6th overall at the meet.

Danhoff teamed with SR Lauren Rattan, FR Amber Kinter and SR Kim Glore to break the 4x200m Academy Record for the 2nd time this season. The Mariners dropped a full second off of their previous best mark finishing with a time of 2:03.66. Rattan, Kinter and Danhoff added FR Ellie Coulter for the 4x400m relay that dropped over four seconds off the Academy Record and finished with a mark of 4:45.80. "Our women are continuously getting better in the relays. They are working hard together and having a lot of fun," added Head Coach Greg Lott.

In addition to taking part in two Academy Records in the relays, SR Lauren Rattan also ran a solid individual race in the 400m. Her time of 1:05.80 is her second fastest indoor time and also #2 all-time at the Academy. The race gives Rattan the Top 6 best indoor marks at 400m  in the history of USMMA track and field. She placed 7th overall at the meet in a very tough field.

FR Ellie Coulter had a great day of racing. Before taking part in the Academy Record 4x400m relay she set her own personal best mark in the Mile run with a significant drop to 6:14.47 (19th All-Time at USMMA). Coulter also ran a strong mile leg of the DMR that placed 2nd in the meet.

The Mariners head to Haverford College on Friday for the Keogh Invitational.
