Piscataway, NJ – The USMMA women's swimming & diving team swam to seventh place over the weekend at the 2014 Metropolitan Conference Championships.  The Mariners improved two spots from their position at last season's event and finished in the top-half of the field for a fourth consecutive year.  Merchant Marine took down four Academy records over the weekend to close out the 2013-14 campaign.

USMMA took fourth overall in the 400 medley relay as the team of Jolyn Green (Riverside, CA), Emily Olsen (Glenwood, NJ), Jacqueline White (Oradell, NJ), and Nina Demet (Lake Forest, IL) clocked in at 4:05.02.  The same contingent broke the Academy record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.44, capturing the top-spot in the "B" final, which accounts for ninth-place in the standings.

White broke two of her own Academy records with superb performances in the 200 backstroke and the 200 fly.  In the 200 backstroke, she hit the wall in 2:08.65 to claim sixth-place in the Metropolitan Conference.  White rewrote the record book again in the 200 fly, touching in at 2:09.46 to finish fifth.

Olsen topped a nine-year old Academy mark in the 100 breaststroke as she placed fifth in the event.  The senior stopped the clock at 1:06.88, one second under her preliminary time, to etch her name in the USMMA record book.  Olsen also reached the "A" final in the 200 breaststroke, racking up 22 points towards the team total with an eighth-place performance.

Demet earned 16th in the 95 swimmer field of the 50 freestyle.  The rookie sprinted to the finish in 25.56 seconds in the "B" final.  Elizabeth Jackson (Albany, GA) placed fourth in the 1-meter diving competition by racking up 367.95 points.

Merchant Marine rounds out the 2013-14 season with an 8-2 dual meet record, a fifth-place finish at the Landmark Championships, and this weekend's seventh-place showing at the Metropolitan Championships.
