Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats Old Westbury and York

Kings Point, NY – The USMMA women's swimming and diving team earned a pair of victories Thursday night, knocking off both Old Westbury and York.  The Mariners downed the Panthers, 58-37, and defeated the Cardinals, 62-26.  Merchant Marine completes the dual meet portion of its schedule with an 8-2 record as the team prepares for the Landmark Conference Championships in two weeks.

Alexandra Biehn (Burnsville, MN) picked up wins in the 500 and 1000 freestyle, winning the latter by over four minutes with a time of 11:59.38.  Jacqueline White (Oradell, NJ) touched first in the 100 backstroke posting a mark of 1:07.13.  Elizabeth Jackson (Albany, GA) earned victories in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

Freshman Nina Demet (Lake Forrest, IL) had a great swim to take the 200 freestyle in 2:07.55 and claimed first-place in the 100 breaststroke by clocking in at 1:14.74.   Elizabeth Rose (Hamilton, OH) shaved three seconds off of her season best in the 200 IM to win the event with a time of 2:40.10.  Elizabeth Olsen (Glenwood, NJ) topped the field in the 100 freestyle with a season best of 59.95 seconds.
