The USMMA women's swimming and diving team captured a 108-63 victory Tuesday night against St. Joseph's (LI), moving the Mariners dual meet record to 6-1 on the season. Merchant Marine adjusted its lineup throughout the night as numerous individuals competed in events for the first time this year. Nina Demet (Lake Forest, IL), who usually swims sprint distances, posted a win in he 1000 freestyle as well as the 100 breaststroke. Emily Boyson (Garland, TX) touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle with a season best time of 2:13.44.
Jolyn Green (Riverside, CA) notched a lifetime best to claim a victory in the 100 freestyle in 1:02.89 to go along with her first-place finish in the 50 freestyle. Jacqueline White (Oradell, NJ) swam a season best 5:38.86 in the 500 freestyle, winning the event by one minute. Alanna McNiece (San Diego, CA) took first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions.
"It was fun to watch our girls swim some different events and enjoy themselves," said Head Coach Sean Tedesco.
The Mariners return to the pool Saturday for senior day against Coast Guard.
