Kings Point, NY – The USMMA women's swimming and diving team picked up a victory in its first dual meet of the season, 133-99, over Queens College. The Mariners had several swimmers set season best times Wednesday night at O'Hara Pool. Jolene Green (Riverside, CA) was named the Mariner of the Meet after picking up victories in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke.
Green's win in the 100 backstroke also came with a lifetime best as she touched the wall in 1:06.91. Nina Demet (Lake Forest, IL) also had a superb outing with second place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. The freshman shaved off time on both of those season bests and also had a strong relay swim.
Senior Alexandra Biehn (Burnsville, MN) captured wins in both the 500 and 1,000 yard freestyle. Elizabeth Jackson (Albany, GA) claimed the top-spot in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. Elizabeth Rose (Hamilton, OH) dropped two seconds off her season best time in the 200 freestyle and also had an outstanding swim in the 500 freestyle.
The USMMA women's swimming and diving team returns to action Saturday for a dual meet against Landmark Conference rival Marywood.
