Mariners Place Fourth at Landmark Conference Championships

Scranton, PA – The USMMA women's swimming and diving team finished fourth at the 2013 Landmark Conference Championships, hosted by Marywood University. The Mariners finished the three-day event 402 total points, finishing in the top-half of the field. Susquehanna racked up 803 points to repeat as Landmark Conference champions.
Sophomore Jacqueline White (Oradell, NJ) had the top finish of the day for the Mariners as she claimed silver in the 200 backstroke. White bettered her preliminary time by almost two seconds as she touched in at 2:08.06. White also claimed third-place as the top USMMA finisher in the 200 fly, notching a time of 2:14.34. Anya Hovanic (Ramstein, Germany) improved her prelim time by over six seconds in the 200 back as her pace of 2:30.98 was good for 14th-place.
Alexandra Biehn (Burnsville, MN) started the day for the USMMA women with a sixth-place showing in the 1,650 freestyle as the hit the wall in 18:43.41. Casey Roth (Westminster, CO) and Colleen Lindgren (Palm City, FL) both finished in the top-16 in the event to score team points for Merchant Marine.
Emily Boyson (Garland, TX) and Emily Olsen (Glenwood, NJ) went back-to-back to finish fourth and fifth, respectively in the 200 breaststroke. Boyson finished in 2:29.16 while Olsen posted a time of 2:30.24 for her place on the podium. Susanne Dannessa (Cleveland, OH) placed third in the 'B' final as she took 11th overall in the event.
The USMMA women's swimming team has now finished fourth or better at the Landmark Conference Championships in each of the last three seasons. The Mariners will return to the pool this weekend at the Metropolitan Championships.
