Swimming and Diving Comes up Short at Coast Guard

New London, CT – The USMMA swimming and diving teams both had solid days in the pool but were upended in dual meets Saturday afternoon at Coast Guard.  Kevin Lindgren (Palm City, FL) lit up the competition with victories in the 100 and 200 backstroke as well as the 100 butterfly.

Lindgren's superb day was highlighted by making a NCAA "B" cut with a time of 1:53.24 in the 200 backstroke.  All three of Lindgren's wins established a new pool record at the Coast Guard Academy.  Alvaro Brice (The Woodlands, TX) also earned a victory for the men's team by touching the wall first in the 200 freestyle, clocking in at 1:45.98.

On the women's side Emily Boyson (Garland, TX) captured first-place in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.  Emily Olsen (Glenwood, NJ) joined Boyson for a one-two finish in the 100 breaststroke.   Olsen earned a victory of her own with a 2:25.33 performance in the 200 yard IM.  Jacqueline White (Oradell, NJ) grabbed the win for the Mariners in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:15.84.

Both teams return to the pool on Thursday, January 24 for a tri-meet against York and Old Westbury.
