Moore, Biehn spark women to their first swim win of season

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – Alexandra Biehn and Casey Moore provided the one-two punch for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women as they won their first meet of the season with a convincing 137-87 home victory over Queens College on Monday night.

Moore captured two events – 500- and 100-yard freestyle races -- and was in a winning relay in a third – the 200-yard medley relay.

She was timed in the 50 freestyle in 26.88 seconds and took first place in the 100 freestyle in 58.65. Moore also was part of the winning 200 medley as she teamed with Jacqueline White, Emily Boyson and Emily Olsen for a 2:00.32 finish.

Biehn won the 200 freestyle in 2:09.84 and then the 500 freestyle in 5:43.05.

Other winners for the Mariners (0-1) included Elizabeth Moore in the 1000 freestyle (11:34.06) and Boyson in the 100 breaststroke.

Elizabeth Jackson (182.16 points) and Lynae Harvey (130.42) won their respective events in one-meter diving.

The Kings Point men also won, stopping Queens College, 131-81.

The Mariners (21-1) won't have time to rest on their laurels. They host Lehman College at 6 p.m. Tuesday in their final meet of 2011.
