KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 19, 2017) – On Monday, the Centennial Conference announced its weekly honors and USMMA freshman Kieran Duggan (Woodbury, Conn.) was chosen as the Centennial Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Dec. 17. The honor comes after the rookie's performances in the Mariners' two events last week – a road loss at NYU on Friday and at the Long Island Open, hosted by Nassau Community College on Sunday.
Duggan produced an overall record of 4-2 on the week and came in third place on Sunday at the Long Island Open, wrestling up a weight class at 165. He went 4-1 on the day, including a technical fall and a major decision. In the third-place bout, Duggan defeated a D3Wrestle.com nationally-ranked contender, junior Adrian Gonzalez of Johnson & Wales, by a 5-2 decision.
The freshman now has an overall record of 14-9 on the season – he is 10-6 at 157 and 4-3 at 165. Duggan leads Merchant Marine with 14 wins, four pins, three technical falls and three major decisions.
