Wrestling Falls Short in 25-12 Loss to #30 TCNJ
Kings Point, NY – The Merchant Marine wrestling team was downed Thursday night by #30 TCNJ, 25-12. Mike Mui (Hingham, MA) and Brian Walker (Huntsville, AL) both earned decision victories for the Mariners. USMMA is now 8-2 on the season as the loss snaps an eight match winning streak.
Mui started the night with a dramatic win at 125 pounds as he trailed throughout the bout. The sophomore earned his victory with a takedown with just 23 seconds left. Walker entered the third period of his match trailing, 1-0. The freshman escaped to start the period and a takedown coupled with riding time gave him a 4-1 triumph. Merchant Marine also picked up six points with a forfeit at 141 pounds.
The USMMA wrestling team returns to action this weekend for conference dual meets against Ursinus and Gettysburg.
