#19 TCNJ Tops USMMA Wrestling, 33-10

Ewing, NJ - The College of New Jersey wrestling team won seven of the first eight weight classes as the Lions earned a 33-10 win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday. The win put the Lions at 7-5, while the Mariners fell to 3-6.
Freshman Dylan Thorsen (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere) added an 11-2 win by major decision extending TCNJ's lead to 16-0. That advantage continued to grow following the 141-pound bout when Mike Shaughnessy (Farmingdale, NJ/Howell) garnered a 14-9 win at 149.
USMMA earned a major decision at 149 as Branden Yeik (Bremerton, WA/Olympia) won by the final count of 15-6. Fourth-ranked John Darling (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) got the Lions back on the winning track with a pin at 165, while KC Murphy (Hamburg, NJ/Wallkill Valley) garnered a 6-2 triumph at 174. Third-ranked Brian Broderick (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) won by technical fall at 184, posting a 19-3 win in 6:50.
