Before USMMA: Lyscas played varsity wrestling and football at Imlay City High School under head coach Ken Day.  He was a three-time team MVP and team captain for the wrestling squad.  Lyscas was also a four-time all-league selection and two-time all-state performer.  Academically, Lyscas was a four-year member of the honor roll.
