USMMA seventh-year head coach Kyle Simensky also announced the full schedule for the 2019 season on Friday. The Mariners will play a total of 15 regular season games over two months, with seven coming against Skyline Conference opponents, as they will look to qualify for and win, for the second-straight year, the Skyline Championship Tournament.
After the two spring break games in Florida next week, the Mariners return to Kings Point for their home-opener on Tuesday, March 12, against Connecticut College. That weekend they'll hit the road up to Buzzards Bay, Mass., for the program's first-ever meeting with Mass. Maritime, on Saturday, March 16.
Up next, USMMA is home for back-to-back non-conference games on Wednesday, March 20, against Ramapo and then Tuesday, March 26, against arch-rival Coast Guard. March closes out with a trip to St. Davids, Pa., just outside of Philadelphia for a non-conference tilt against Eastern University on Saturday, March 30.
Skyline Conference action begins with another pair of back-to-back home games against Farmingdale State on Wednesday, April 3, and Mount St. Vincent on Friday, April 5. The Mariners then have their longest road-trip of the season, three games, all conference contests beginning with a trip to Old Westbury on Tuesday, April 9, followed by the annual Sound Shootout game against rival SUNY Maritime on Saturday, April 13, up in the Bronx.
The road-trip ends at St. Joseph's-Long Island on Wednesday, April 17, and then its home for two-straight – a non-conference game against Stockton on Saturday, April 20, which will serve as Senior Day for the Mariners' Class of 2019, and the home-finale on Tuesday, April 23, against Skyline foe Mount St. Mary.
The regular season ends on Saturday, April 26, with a road conference game up at Purchase College in Westchester County.
The top four teams at the end of the regular season will earn berths into the Skyline Conference Championship tournament, which begins with the semifinals (#4 at #1 and #3 at #2) on Wednesday, May 2. The Skyline Championship game will be played on Saturday, May 4, with an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Tournament on the line.
