Reilly & Willard Selected To Skyline Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 2, 2018) – On Monday, the Skyline Conference announced that USMMA juniors Jessica Reilly (Sayville, N.Y.) and Meredith Willard (Portland, Maine) were selected to the league's women's lacrosse weekly honor roll. This is the third time this season that Reilly has earned this accolade (March 12 & 26) and the second time that Willard has been recognized by the Skyline (Player of the Week on March 19).

The kudos come after the pair's performances in the Mariners' two non-conference victories last week – a 9-8 road win at Ramapo on Tuesday and a 19-9 home triumph over Medaille on Saturday.

Reilly continues to contribute in every aspect of the game. She ranked second on the squad with nine points (eight goals and one assist) over the two games and she also secured a very impressive 25 draw controls, including 17 against Medaille on Saturday, while also leading Merchant Marine with seven groundballs and five caused turnovers on the week.

Willard led the Mariners with 13 points over the two games (10 goals and three assists). She became the first Mariner ever to reach the 100 career goal plateau on Saturday with seven goals, as part of a 10-point effort (three assists). She also added a hat-trick on Tuesday.

Reilly ranks in the top-10 in the Skyline in five categories – third with 4.29 goals per game, 2.71 caused turnovers per game and 7.71 draw controls per game, fourth with 4.14 groundballs per game and sixth with 4.71 points per game. Willard is among the conference best in three categories – second with 4.60 goals per game and 6.40 points per game and fifth with 1.80 assists per game.

Four other Mariners are also ranked in the top-10. Junior goalie Hannah Gizzi (Finksburg, Md.) is second in the league with an 8.33 goals against average and fourth with a .448 save percentage. Junior Maura Malone's (Yorktown, Va.) 4.00 draw controls per game rank eighth, sophomore Grace McHugh's (Sturbridge, Mass.) 1.25 assist per game rank 10th and classmate Elena Chamberland's (Lakeland, Fla.) 3.29 groundballs per game rank 10th.

Among all Division III players in the nation, Reilly is 16th in draw controls per game, 36th in goals per game and 47th in caused turnovers per game, while Gizzi ranks 27th in the country in goals against average.

As a team, the Mariners are eighth in the nation with 27.00 groundballs per game, 26th with a 7.43 scoring margin, 32nd with 15.29 goals per game (scoring offense) and 35th with just 7.86 goals allowed per game (scoring defense).
