Mariani Nets Hat Trick in Loss at Susquehanna

Selinsgrove, PA – Grace Mariani (Amherst, NY) netted a hat trick Saturday afternoon but the USMMA women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-5 decision at Susquehanna.  Emma Ehler led the Crusaders with seven points on the day, including six assists.  Elizabeth Noonan (Charlottesville, VA) played her first collegiate game in goal and made 15 saves for the Mariners.

Susquehanna (8-4, 4-1 Landmark) scored the first 12 goals of the game in the opening 11:37 of action.  The Crusaders defense forced the Mariners into 22 turnovers and 8-of-15 on clear attempts.  The home team also finished the day with a 42-8 advantage in shots.

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (1-9, 0-5 Landmark) notched three of the last five goals in the first half.  Mariani tallied two of those markers while Shannen Dunn (Bourne, MA) had the final marker before the intermission.  Mariani and Emily Finnin (Littleton, CO) each netted a goal in the second half while A Jordan Pappas (Howell, NJ) had the Mariners lone assist of the afternoon.

The USMMA women's lacrosse team closes the 2014 season next week for a home game on Senior Day against Scranton.  Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
