Josephs Chosen Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year

Kings Point, NY – Senior captain Roshenda Josephs (Culpeper, VA) was recognized by Landmark Conference coaches on Tuesday; being named Defensive Player of the Year for her outstanding performance in 2012-13.

Josephs set the United States Merchant Marine Academy and Landmark Conference single-season steals record, compiling a total of 98 takeaways on the year.  She also sits second on the USMMA all-time career steals list with a total of 247.

Her average of 3.9 steals was tops in the conference by over a full steal per game and was good enough to rank 12th overall nationally.

Josephs finishes her career at Kings Point in the top 10 of every major statistical category:

Steals: 247, 2nd
Assists: 184, 5th
Blocks: 33, 8th
Points: 666, 10th
Rebounds: 440, 10th

A Mariner has now won defensive player of the year three times in the six year history of the Landmark Conference.  Brooke Picillo '10, whose single-season steals record was broken by Josephs in 2013, won the award in 2008 and 2010.
