Josephs Sets Landmark Conference Single-Season Steals Record
Kings Point, NY – Merchant Marine senior captain Roshenda Josephs (Culpeper, VA) set a new Landmark Conference single-season steals record Wednesday night in a 66-58 victory over Drew University; snatching a total of 93 on the year.
Josephs' two steals on the night were good enough to vault over the mark of 92 set by Juniata's Claudia McDowell during the 2008-09 campaign. The feat also gave Josephs the USMMA single-season steals record as she topped Brooke Picillo's '10 high of 91 from the 2009-10 season.
Josephs currently leads the Landmark Conference in steals per game, averaging 3.9 on the year and is ranked 19th nationally. She sits firmly in second place on Merchant Marine's all-time career steals list totaling 242 throughout her four years at Kings Point.
She will have the opportunity to pad her single-season record Saturday night as the Mariners wrap up their season against Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA.
