Mariners Head to Juniata for a Saturday Matinee

Setting the Scene... The United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (7-7, 1-5) will take on the Eagles of Juniata College (12-4, 3-2) Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM in Huntingdon, PA.  Juniata enters the contest currently holding on to the fourth seed in the Landmark Conference winning six of their last seven games overall.  USMMA comes into the matchup after dropping a Wednesday night contest to nationally ranked Moravian and looking to snap a five-game losing skid in Landmark Conference games.

Series History... Merchant Marine is 0-10 all-time against the Eagles. In their final meeting last season, Juniata upended the Mariners by a score of 57-41 in Kings Point.

Scouting the Eagles...
In their last game, Juniata dispatched of conference opponent Goucher 71-33.  Junior forward Kate McDonald currently ranks third in the Landmark Conference averaging 9.9 rebounds per game and fifth in points per game with 13.3.  Senior guard Jordan Speck currently ranks fourth in the conference in three-point percentage, shooting 42.5%. 

Senior Scorers...
Senior captains Tamara Kaileh (12.7 PPG) and Shendi Josephs (10.5 PPG) have been the most consistent scoring threats for the Mariners, tallying 10 points or more in a combined 18 games. 

Resor Sharp...
 Sophomore forward Rebecca Resor is coming off of a career game against Moravian in which she set a career high in points (17), notched her team leading third double-double of the season, and shot 62% from the field.  She also ranks fourth in the conference in rebounds per game with 9.4.

Turning the Tides...
In all seven of Merchant Marine's wins this season, they have forced 20 or more turnovers.  They are also a perfect 6-0 when turning the ball over less than their opposition.  Josephs has helped pave the way in creating extra possessions, leading the Landmark Conference with 4.0 steals per game.
