Mariners Sweep Skyline Men’s Cross Country Weekly Awards

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 17, 2017) – USMMA senior Austin MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) and freshman Patrick Porch (Halstead, Kan.) swept the Skyline Conference men's cross country weekly awards this week, as MacElrevey was named the Runner of the Week and Porch garnered Rookie of the Week honors. The accolades come after the pair's performance at the Cougar Chase this past Sunday at Caldwell University, where they helped lead the Mariners to their second-straight first-place finish and third of the season.

MacElrevey won his third race of the year on Sunday, crossing the finish line of the 5K event with a time of 16:45.34. He was the only runner to finish the course in under 17 minutes. This is the second time MacElrevey has been honored as the Skyline Runner of the Week (Sept. 18) and he has also been named to the Skyline weekly honor roll twice (Sept. 11 and Oct. 9).

Porch also had a top-10 finish at the Cougar Chase, as he placed sixth out of the 76 runners after completing the 5,000-meter loop in 17:46.46. This is the rookie's first weekly accolade of his career.
