First-Place Finish Earns MacElrevey Skyline And ECAC Runner Of The Week Honors

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 20, 2017) – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy senior Austin MacElrevey's (Lewes, Del.) first-place finish this past Sunday at the Queensborough Invitational has earned him multiple Runner of the Week accolades, as the Skyline Conference announced he was its honoree on Monday and then today the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tabbed him as its DIII Metro Runner of the Week. This is the second-straight week that the senior co-captain was honored by the Skyline, as he was named to the weekly honor roll last week.

MacElrevey was the individual champion in the men's 8K race at the challenging Van Cortlandt Park course in the Bronx on Sunday. He crossed the finish line with a time of 27:45.5, nearly a full minute ahead of the second-place finisher from Purchase College. MacElrevey's performance, along with the rest of the Mariners' top five finishers, helped lead the squad to a first-place team finish at the Invite.
