Bristol, RI – The USMMA men's cross country team placed eighth out of 46 teams Saturday afternoon at the ECAC Championships held at Colt State Park. Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year Daniel Wolfer (Hebron, KY) finished in 26th, topping over 300 other runners in the field. Wolfer completed the 8,000 meter course in 26:49 with an average mile time of 5:23.
Freshman Cameron Green (Lancaster, CA) finished in 32nd place as the Mariners continue to show a bright future with strong outings from underclassmen. Green clocked in at 26:56 while sophomore Brendan Dooley (Hebron, KY) crossed the tape three seconds later to grab 39th place. Andrew Walsh (Granville, OH) notched an average mile time of 5:28 as he also cracked the field's top-50.
Merchant Marine had three straight runners cross the finish line to round out its top-seven at the event. Thomas Routt (Ellicott City, MD), David McGowan (Clarksville, MD), and Jason Black (Sigonella, Italy) claimed 102nd, 103rd, and 104th, respectively with times just over 28 minutes. The result marks the second straight year the Mariners have finished eighth at the ECAC Championships.
