Brookville, NY – The USMMA men's cross country team finished second out of 12 teams Saturday at the LIU Post Invitational. The Mariners placed all five of their scoring runners within ten places of each other. Freshman Cameron Green (Lancaster, CA) was the top Merchant Marine finisher, taking 12th place with a time of 26:42 on the 8k course.
"We had a lot of strong efforts today from our men. Cameron Green improved from last week and this is hopefully a sign of some great things for him in the future," said Head Coach David Lawrence Jr. "The team finished 2nd overall among Division II and Division III schools and finished as the first Division III team, which is a step in the right direction this early in the season."
Brendan Dooley (Herbon, KY) and Andrew Walsh (Granville, OH) crossed the tape in 14th and 15th place, respectively, as Dooley stopped the clock in 26:46. Daniel Wolfer needed 27:04 to finish the race as he came in 18th out of 111 runners. Connor McWeeney (Lake Oswego, OR) secured the Mariners place in the standings with a time of 27:14 and a 21st place finish.
The USMMA men's cross country team is back on the course October 5 at the Highlander Challenge in Newark, NJ.
