Men’s Cross Country Places 8th at Goucher Cross Country Classic

BALTIMORE, Md. – On Saturday, the United States Merchant Marine Academy men's cross country squad competed at the Goucher Cross Country Classic in Baltimore, Md. The Mariners finished eighth overall out of 12 teams as they prepared for the home-stretch of their 2010 season.

"The trip to Baltimore gave our teams the chance to run on the same course that they will compete on for the Landmark Conference Championships at the end of this month. The focus of the weekend was for everyone to familiarize themselves with the environment and formulate a plan of attack for Landmarks," Head Coach Gregory Lott commented after the meet.

Junior Ross Whelpley (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) led the way for the men's team on Saturday.
Head Coach Gregory Lott and the Mariners return to action on Saturday when they compete at the CTC Championships in Sewell, N.J.
