KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 8, 2019) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy tennis team dropped its rivalry matchup to Coast Guard at home on Monday afternoon, 9-0. The loss drops the Mariners' record to 4-2, while the Bears improve to an even 5-5.
In doubles action, the #2 flight of senior Brandon Deeter (Truckee, Calif.) and freshman Connor Campbell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had the closest result for the Mariners, falling by just four games, 8-4.
Junior Justin McGaffigan (Quincy, Mass.) and Campbell both went to third-set tie-breakers at #2 and #3 singles, respectively, with McGaffigan ultimately falling, 6-0, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-2), and Campbell dropping his match, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-0).

The Mariners are back in action on Wednesday, April 10, when they play host to Skyline opponent Farmingdale State at 4:30 p.m. at Brooks Stadium.
