Sean Tedesco is entering his 13th season at the helm of both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Since his arrival at Kings Point, Tedesco led the men’s squad to six consecutive Skyline Conference titles, as part of nine overall, and six straight Landmark Conference Championships, the later makes the Mariners the only team to win the men's crown in league history.

Tedesco has also garnered 17 Coach of the Year honors through his 13 seasons. Tedesco has nabbed Landmark Conference Coach of the Year honors on four occasions (men’s), the Skyline Coach of the Year Award nine times (six men’s/three women’s) and the Metropolitan Conference Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2006. In 2005 and 2008, the Academy named him the recipient of the Coach Omeletchenko Coach of the Year Award.

Tedesco's men's program has been a model of consistency, reaching the NCAA Championships in 12 consecutive seasons, including ten top-30 finishes.  The 2011-12 campaign ended with a first for Tedesco as Kevin Lindgren qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials.  Overall, Tedesco has coached five NCAA DIII individual national champions.  During his tenure, the Blue and Gray have made 87 standards for the NCAA Division III Championships.

After placing 30th during in Tedesco's first two years, USMMA finished 19th at the NCAA's in 2004 behind Joel Meyer, who was named National Diver of the Year. The 2005-06 team placed 21st at the NCAA Division III Championships as well as the 06-07 squad placing 25th.  The 07-08 team finished in 25th while the 08-09 team placed 23rd behind Nick Halbach, who was also named National Diver of the Year. In 2009-10, the team placed 29th as Halbach claimed the individual title in both the 1m and 3m diving events.

Tedesco has coached 12 All-Americans with 32 All-American certificates. He has also coached 32 NCAA qualifiers and seen 157 Academy records and 214 conference/pool records broken. Tedesco's athletes also excel in the classroom with the 2001-02 and 2006-07 teams securing Academic All-America honors. Tedesco has also had nine athletes been named Academic All-American.

Prior to his arrival at Kings Point, Tedesco served as the top assistant men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach at Villanova University. His responsibilities included designing, organizing, and running swim, dry land and weight training workouts for the teams while also coordinating all recruiting efforts. At Villanova, he coached one Olympian, three U.S. Olympic Trial qualifiers, two Canadian Olympic Trial qualifiers, one NCAA Champion and eight NCAA qualifiers.

Tedesco earned his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut in 1998, where he was a member of the men’s swimming and diving team. He earned the University Senior Athlete Award in 1998 and garnered Most Valuable Swimmer honors in 1996 and 1998. Additionally, Tedesco was a NCAA Division I qualifier, a Senior National qualifier and a Big East Champion in the 200-yard breaststroke. The Huskies were named a Big East Conference All-Academic Team in 1996 and 1997 with Tedesco on the roster. He then went on to earn a Master’s degree in business administration from Adelphi University in 2003.

Tedesco still stays active in his free time. In 2006-08, 2010, and 2011 he earned Triathlete All-American honors.  He also completed in the 2012 NYC Ironman as well as the 2004 Wisconsin Ironman.

Tedesco currently resides in East Meadow with his wife, Marissa and their daughters, Abigail and Amanda.

Johan Lopez enters his first season as the Head Diving Coach for the USMMA Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams in 2013-14.  Lopez served the previous four seasons as the Head Diving Coach at his alma mater, Lehman College.  He was a member of the coaching staff that led Lehman to the 2013 CUNYAC Chamnpionship.

Lopez was a three-time CUNYAC diving champion, capturing individual crowns in 2007, 2008, and 2009.  In his time as a coach at Lehman College, Lopez was also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Apex Pool.   He served as the head lifeguard at Apex Pool as well as the assistant equipment manager and team coordinator.  Lopez also ran a very successful pre-team swimming program, which graduates children of all ages onto the Apex Swim Team.  In that project, he worked with people ranging from ages five to twenty-seven in learning how to swim competitively.

Lopez also coached an outdoor summer team at the Larchmont Yacht Club Pool (LYC), which is the size of two Olympic pools.  Lopez's responsibilities ranged from coaching to maintaining a safe environment for children and adults who use the facility.  At the Larchmont Yacht Club he coached the 2012 County Diving Champion.

Lopez served as the diving coach at several high schools between 2010-12 including Rye High School, Mamaroneck High School, Bronxville High School, and The Ursuline School.  He had a male and female diver qualify to NYSPHSAA Swimming & Diving Championships every season and had one diver receive All-American recognition in 2010 and 2011.

Lopez holds a Bachelor's of Science in Dietetics, Food & Nutrition and is currently pursuing a Master's of Mathematics at Lehman College.  He is American Red Cross as well as USA Diving Certified and currently resides in Mount Vernon, NY.
