Before USMMA: Roberts was a member of both the swimming and track teams during his time at Bingham High School. He served as team captain and received the Coach's Award as a senior. Roberts was also an Academic All-American as well as receiving his team's "Most Improved" honor. He competed on the state team in 2010-12 as well as the sectional team in 2012.
