The United States Merchant Marine Academy Men's Swimming & Diving team won the Landmark Conference Championship this past weekend at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The win marks the Mariner's fifth straight Landmark Championship and 11th straight championship overall dating back to the Skyline Conference.
Freshman Kevin Lindgren earned rookie of the year honors as he set a Landmark record on his way to winning the 200 meter backstroke with a time of 1:52.95. This mark is good enough to qualify Lindgren for an NCAA provisional meet.
Overall, the men's team won seven events throughout the three days of competition:

Men's 800 Freestyle Relay: Josh McCormick, Tom Stewart, Chris Scott, Blake Krell

Men's 400 Freestyle Relay: Sean Minor, Josh McCormick, Chris Scott, Blake Krell

The Women's team placed third at the championships, their best finish ever. Freshman Emily Boyson earned the only two individual wins for the Mariners in the 100 & 200 meter breaststroke.
