Banks Named Assistant Soccer Coach

The United States Merchant Marine Academy has named Trevor Banks their newest assistant soccer coach.

Banks has been coaching at the collegiate level since 2009.  He spent last season as the assistant soccer coach at Barry University in Miami, Florida and the prior two seasons as the assistant coach at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.

Banks played four seasons at Kentucky Wesleyan College from 2006-2009 and five seasons in the United Soccer League from 2004-2008.

"John Fitzgerald (Associate Head Coach) and I are pleased with the addition of Trevor Banks to our soccer coaching staff," said Head Coach Mike Smolens.  "Trevor brings a variety of experiences from his previous positions and we believe he will help our team in our quest to improve.  He has spent a great deal of time training goalkeepers and this is something which we hope will make an immediate impact in our program."

The Mariners are eager to get their season underway as they look to qualify for the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive season.
