Washington Selected To Skyline Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 29, 2018) – On Monday, the Skyline Conference released its weekly report for men's basketball and USMMA junior David Washington (Frisco, Texas) was selected to the league's weekly honor roll. This is the second time this season that Washington has been honored by the conference, as he earned Player of the Week accolades back on Dec. 18.

This honor comes after Washington's performances in the Mariners' two games last week – an 83-69 home win over Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday and a 67-49 road loss at Purchase on Saturday.

The junior averaged a double-double on the week with 12.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game over the two contests. He also shot an impressive 73.3-percent from the field (11-for-15) and had five blocks and four assists in the games. On Saturday at Purchase, Washington earned his team-leading third double-double of the season with a team-best 14 points and a game-high 18 rebounds.

Washington is one of four Mariners to rank in the top-10 statistically in the Skyline Conference. His 9.3 rebounds per game are good for fifth in the league, while his 1.4 blocks per game are tied for second and his 1.9 steals per game are tied for third.

Below are the rest of the Mariners in the Skyline's top-10:

Freshman James Walsh (Huntington, N.Y.) is tied ninth in the league with 14.0 points per game, fourth with a .376 three-point shooting percentage, tied for fifth with 2.6 three-pointers per game and eighth with a .483 shooting percentage.

Sophomore Eric Sobocinski (Southampton, N.J.) ranks third in the conference with a .387 three-point shooting percentage and is tied for fifth with 2.6 three-pointers per game.

Sophomore Connor Green (Flower Mound, Texas) is fifth in the Skyline with 3.9 assists per game and is seventh with a 1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio.
