Mariners Take On Stevens in Tuesday Night Non-Conference Game

Complete Game Notes (PDF)

Setting the Scene... The USMMA men's basketball team takes to the road Tuesday night for a non-conference clash with Stevens, who received votes in the latest D3Hoops.com national poll.  The Mariners are looking to continue their winning ways after an 81-66 triumph over Landmark Conference rival Susquehanna last time out.  The Ducks have won five straight entering Tuesday's game and are a perfect 3-0 at home in 2012-13.

Series History... USMMA holds a commanding 32-11 advantage in the all-time series against Stevens.  However, last season the Ducks knocked off the Mariners in double overtime in Kings Point, 85-75.  In that game Reed Buck dropped in 28 points for Merchant Marine while Russ Thompson paced all scorers with 29 points.

Bang for your "Buck"...  Reed Buck (Lawrenceville, GA) has caught fire as of late, scoring at least 24 points in five of his last seven games.  The junior forward averaged 30 points in two games last week to be named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week for the second time in 2012-13.  Buck, a preseason All-American, now leads the league in scoring with 20.3 points per game.

Chasing 1,000... In just his third season at USMMA Reed Buck is pursuing the elite 1,000 point club.  Buck currently stands at 934 points in a Mariner uniform, just 66 points short of the 1,000 milestone.

Special "K"... Zach Karczewski (Austin, TX) exploded for season highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds in the Mariners "must-win" victory over Susquehanna.  The athletic guard is averaging 10.3 rebounds over the last three games after returning to his starting role against Catholic.

Block Party... Freshman Andrew Williams (Lantana, TX) continues to dominate inside and posted five blocks last time out versus the Crusaders.
He has recorded at least two blocks in five consecutive games and sent back a season high six shots versus Dickinson.  Williams ranks second in the Landmark Conference with 2.2 blocks per game in 2012-13.

Up Next... USMMA travels to Juniata this Saturday for a Landmark Conference clash that will be the second game of a double header.  Tip-off for the men's game is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
