Complete Game Notes (PDF)

Setting the Scene... The USMMA men's basketball hosts rival Coast Guard Wednesday night inside O'Hara Hall as the two service academies meet for the only time this season.  The Mariners are looking to rebound from a loss to Goucher in their Landmark Conference opener while the Bears will be attempting to snap a three-game slide.
Series History... Merchant Marine trails the all-time series with their arch rival, 27-17.  Coast Guard picked up an 85-77 victory over USMMA in New London, CT last season.  The Mariners last defeated USCGA 83-72 in the 2010-11 season.
Bang for your "Buck"... Reed Buck (Lawrenceville, GA) currently ranks first on the team and third in the Landmark Conference, averaging 18.2 points per game.  The junior has reached double figures in scoring in every game this season.
Surging Sergio... Junior Nick Sergio (Patchogue, NY) has had a strong start to the 2012-13 campaign, averaging 8.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game off the bench.  In the Mariners' conference opener the 6-8 forward poured in 13 points along with a game high 15 rebounds.
Busy Week Ahead... Wednesday's clash with Coast Guard starts a stretch in which the Mariners will play three games in five days.  The stretch represents the most compact set of games on the calendar in 2012-13 for Merchant Marine.
USMMA Sports Network... Fans can watch all the action live on Wednesday night via the USMMA Sports Network.  Jacob Wilkins will provide play-by-play commentary all season long as the Merchant Marine Academy athletic department continues to expand the coverage of all of their sports.  Fans can access the USMMA Sports Network portal by visiting www.USMMASports.com.
Up Next... Merchant Marine returns to the court over the weekend for a pair of conference tilts as they hit the road to take on Moravian on Saturday and nationally ranked Scranton on Sunday.
