Richard Reichert enters his first year at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 2012 as the Mariners' Defensive Backs Coach.

Prior to arriving at Kings Point, Reichert served as the Defensive Graduate Assistant for the Western Michigan University football team.  At WMU he received a Master’s degree in Coaching Sports Performance and had the privilege to work under Defensive Backs Coach Amp Campbell and former Defensive Coordinator Dave Cohen.

In 2011, Western Michigan posted a 7-5 record and earned a bid to play in the Little Cesar Pizza Pizza Bowl.  Aside from coaching the defensive backs, Reichert helped contribute to the team’s success through video breakdown, opponent analysis and weekly scouting reports.  During the 2011 season, he worked with the Rovers and All-MAC Selection Johnnie Simon.  

Prior to arriving at Kalamazoo his coaching career began at Rutgers University in 2010.  As a member of the Scarlet Knights' staff Reichert was responsible for video breakdown, opponent analysis and weekly scouting reports.

In 2009, Reichert graduated from American International College with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  He was a four-year member of the Yellow Jacket's football and lacrosse teams.  During the 2008 football season he was elected to the Northeast 10 All-Conference team; leading the team in tackles and helping AIC to a 9-2 record and a berth the Division-II playoffs and was elected a team captain for the 2009 season.  Reichert was also named defensive MVP during the 2009 football season and was recipient of the unsung hero during the 2010 lacrosse season. 

Reichert is responsible for recruiting in New York (Long Island), Texas, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Oklahoma.

Reichert's father, Richard A. Reichert is a retired Nassau County Police Officer and the current head coach at St. Anthony’s High School.  His mother, Marry Ann Reichert is a registered nurse.  Reichert currently resides in Nesconset, NY.
