Former Mariner Assistant Bill Polian To Be Inducted Into Pro Football Hall Of Fame This Weekend

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (August 7, 2015) – This weekend, former U.S. Merchant Marine Academy assistant coach Bill Polian will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Polian was an assistant at the Academy for five years under former Mariner head coach George Paterno during the 1970's. During his tenure at USMMA, Polian coached current head coach Mike Toop.

Polian eventually went on to become a successful executive in the National Football League, due in large part to the way he built the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts into prominent teams.

Polian recently spoke with the Altoona Mirror about the impact that Coach Paterno had on him during his time in Kings Point. That article can be read by clicking on this link.

The Class of 2015 Enshrinement Ceremony will be held tomorrow, Saturday, August 8 at 7 p.m. and can be viewed on ESPN and the NFL Network.
