Gosselin Earns Offensive Player of the Week Honors For 2nd Time

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – After a stellar performance to help the United States Merchant Marine Academy football squad defeat Liberty League-opponent Union College on Saturday, 28-21, sophomore running back John-Leon Gosselin (Nashua, N.H.) was named the conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Week. The announcement came out of the Liberty League office on Monday afternoon.

Gosselin rushed for a team-high 201 yards on 30 carries versus Union and scored three times. His longest run of the year was a 63-yarder to help give the Mariners an early 7-0 lead.

This announcement comes as the second time this season that the Nashua native was named the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week. Gosselin also received the honor on October 18 after his performance against the University of Rochester.

Kings Point is currently 4-5 overall and 3-2 in the Liberty League.

Head Coach Mike Toop and the Mariners return to action when they host RPI on Senior Day at Captain Tomb Field on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. If you can't make it to the game, please visit www.usmmasports.com and tune into a live audio and video broadcast with the Mariner Gridiron Network's Ray Martel and Seth Cantor, who will have all the play-by-play action.
