KINGS POINT, N.Y. (May 1, 2018) – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced on Tuesday that USMMA freshman Jack McCann (Newark, Del.) was selected as the league's Division III Metro Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 29. The big regional recognition comes after the rookie's performances in the Mariners' three games last week.
McCann knocked in a career-high seven runs in the 19-6 first-game win at home over Skyline opponent Purchase on Saturday, including a grand slam to end the contest via the run-rule. He also had an RBI single, an RBI double and a sacrifice on a suicide squeeze bunt in the affair. On Tuesday at Division II NYIT, the catcher went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly. For the week, he went 4-for-7 at the plate with a home run, eight RBIs and a double.
