On Sunday night, the Mariners swept Mount St. Vincent in a Skyline doubleheader played in East Rockaway, N.Y., by the scores of 10-0 (in seven) and 8-0. The full statistics are not finalized as of yet, as some changes still need to be made.
In the first game, freshman Joe Raab (Edwardsburg, Mich.) brought a no-hitter into the seventh inning without allowing a baserunner and finished with a complete game, two-hit shutout for his fourth win of the season. He struck out 11 Dolphin batters in the affair.
Offensive highlights included Mesaros going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while fellow freshman Jack McCann (Newark, Del.) knocked in two with a run scored. Sithong was 3-for-5 with an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases. Sithong, Cunningham (2-for-3, 1RBI, 3R), Campbell (1-for-3, 1R) and McCann all had doubles in the game.
In the second game, junior Andrew Spinnenweber (Pasadena, Md.) got the start and was dominant through six innings – striking out 11 and allowing just two hits. Freshman Andrew Hunt (Severna Park, Md.) pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to end the game.
Alteri went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple, two RBIs and a run scored, while senior Michael Barnes (Alexandria, Va.) also knocked in two after going 2-for-3 with a triple and run. Also adding RBIs were Fox, freshmen Colin Baker (Clyde Hill, Wash.) and Reilly Cherry (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) and senior Steve Lucy (Leawood, Kan.), whose RBI single in the seventh closed out the scoring on the night. Eight different Mariners scored in the game.
