Mariners Picked Third in Landmark Conference Preseason Poll

Full Landmark Confernece Release

The USMMA baseball team has been slated to finish third in the 2014 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, which is comprised of votes from the league's head coaches.  Merchant Marine received one first-place vote after a 2013 campaign in which the Mariners earned their first-ever share of the Landmark Conference regular season title.  USMMA returns All-Landmark Conference first-team players Warren Hartmann (Wyckoff, NJ) and Danny Collins (Sleepy Hollow, NY), with Hartmann being the reigning conference player of the year.

Merchant Marine also sends two Second-Team All-Landmark Conference players back into the lineup in 2014 in first baseman Jake Martin (San Diego, CA) and pitcher/outfielder Cameron Stadele (Alpharetta, GA).  The Mariners starting rotation will be filled with experience as Stadele, Timothy Arner (Allentown, VA), and Kyle Clausen (Southold, NY) all will retake the mound this year after pitching in numerous conference games in 2013.  The Mariners will boast a similar lineup to the team that finished last season first in the Landmark Conference rankings in runs, RBI, stolen bases, and batting average.

Moravian was tabbed as the league's preseason favorite as the defending champions look for back-to-back crowns.  The USMMA baseball team opens the 2014 campaign February 27 at William Paterson.
