The USMMA baseball team put six players on All-Landmark Conference teams, including Warren Hartmann (Wyckoff, NJ) who was selected as the league's player of the year. Head Coach Michael Notebaert was chosen by his peers as the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year as well as having his staff earn coaching staff of the year accolades. Danny Collins (Sleepy Hollow, NY) also earned first-team honors along with Hartmann while Jake Martin (San Diego, CA), Keil Silva (Castle Rock, CO), Cameron Stadele (Alpharetta, GA), and Nicholas Kopacka (Saugus, CA) all earned a spot on the All-Landmark Second-Team.
Hartmann is among the nation's leaders in Division III with a .459 batting average and set a new Academy record in 2013 with 24 stolen bases. The junior second baseman is the first player in Merchant Marine history to be named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year. Hartmann was also among the league leaders with 31 RBI, 37 runs scored, 19 doubles, and a .664 slugging percentage.
Head Coach Michael Notebaert received the nod as Coach of the Year after leading the Mariners to a share of the Landmark Conference Regular Season Championship for the first-time in program history. Notebaert is the all-time wins leader at the Academy and has taken Merchant Marine to the postseason three times in the last five seasons.
Danny Collins (Sleepy Hollow, NY) secured his spot on the All-Landmark Conference First-Team after leading the league with 39 RBI along with a .404 batting average. The USMMA clean-up hitter launched two homeruns this season, scored 32 runs, and stole 16 bases. Collins finished the year riding a 12 game hitting streak with 10 of those games being multi-hit performances.
Jake Martin (San Diego, CA) had a superb season at the plate and in the field en route to being named to the All-Landmark Conference Second-Team. The junior made just three errors all season, posting a .988 fielding percentage. Martin started every game for the Mariners and notched a .347 batting average, 25 RBI, and a .450 on-base percentage.
Keil Silva (Castle Rock, CO) and Cameron Stadele (Alpharetta, GA) were both voted as all-league second-team outfielders. Silva's performance in 2013 was especially impressive with the absence of a preseason as he did not return from his sea year until several weeks into the season. Silva played a solid center field and finished the year as the USMMA leadoff hitter with a .361 batting average. Stadele recorded 29 RBI and 13 stolen bases coupled with his .333 mark at the plate this season. He was also a consistent part of the Merchant Marine pitching rotation with five wins, three complete games, and a 3.84 ERA.
Kopacka took his All-Landmark Conference Second-Team spot at the DH position. One of only two seniors on the USMMA roster he hit .351 at the dish and drove in 17 runs. Kopacka finished his collegiate career hitting .400 against conference opponents with a .440 slugging percentage in those games.
