He also coordinates several alumni events during Homecoming, and assists the Athletic Department in their mail solicitations.

Matalas makes a return to Kings Point, as he was a former Sports Information Assistant during the 2000-01 academic year. His ties to the Academy lay deeper, as his grandfather, Charles, was a graduate of USMMA in 1942.

Matalas graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management. After completing internships with the Western Professional Hockey League, New York Rangers and USMMA, Matalas served as the Sports Information Director at Lebanon Valley College (Pa.).
