Melinda Eng, a native of Floral Park, New York, enters her sixth
year as Head Athletic Trainer at Kings Point after spending the
previous four years as Assistant Athletic Trainer for the
Academy.
As Head Athletic Trainer, Eng is responsible for the prevention,
evaluation, and recognition of athletic injuries, illness, medical
referral, rehabilitation and reconditioning for the Academy's 23
athletic programs. Prior to coming to USMMA, Eng served as a
Assistant Athletic Trainer at Wagner College for two years, where
she went onto earn her Masters of Science in Education with a
concentration in Biology in 2001. At Wagner, Eng was assigned to
the women’s soccer, football, volleyball and men's and
women's Lacrosse teams.
While obtaining her Bachelors of Science in the study of Athletic
Training at Hofstra University, Eng worked as a student athletic
trainer, where she learned her craft as a student assistant to the
football, men’s soccer, wrestling and tennis teams.
A licensed athletic trainer by the State of New York, Eng is
certified by several organizations including the National Athletic
Trainers Association (NATA), American Red Cross First Aid and
Safety, Community CPR and CPR Professional Rescuer.
In addition to her athletic training duties, Eng is an instructor
for the USMMA. She is responsible for the instruction of all
Midshipmen in First Aid and Ships Medicine for their Coast Guard
liscensing exams.
Eng currently resides in Bayside, New York.
