Kyle Simensky enters his fourth year at the helm of the USMMA women's lacrosse program in 2016 and is the first women's lacrosse head coach in the history of the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
Simensky is bringing in his largest recruiting class for of the 2016 season, as 13 freshman join the squad.
On March 8, 2014, Simensky coached the Mariners to their first win in program history with a 12-7 home victory over Bryn Athyn College. He then guided the Mariners to the program's second win ever, a 15-1 victory over St. Elizabeth on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. The 15 goals scored that day was a new program record for goals in a single game.
He previously spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Mariners' men's team from 2009-10 and was part of the 2009 squad that captured a Landmark Conference Championship. Most recently, he has served as an assistant coach and physical education teacher in the Locust Valley School District.
Simensky is also a decorated NCAA Division III athlete, competing for the men’s lacrosse team at Cortland State. His team made three consecutive appearances in the national championship game from 2006-08 and won a DIII National Championship in 2006. Simensky was named a SUNYAC All-Conference performer his senior season when he finished the season with 54 points on 40 goals and 14 assists.
