Matt Mancini enters his sixth season with the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 2017 in his role as the Director of Football Operations. Before joing the Mariners’ staff, Mancini was the Assistant Director of Football Operations at Princeton University during the 2011 season. His responsibilities included managing video operations, coordinating all junior varsity football team operations, as well as maintaining the team’s social media efforts.
Mancini also served as an assistant baseball coach at the Academy from 2013-2016.
As a graduate student at Georgetown University during the 2010-2011 school year, Mancini was an intern for the Hoyas football operations staff. He also worked for the NFL’s Washington Redskins as a Game Day Operations Assistant. In that role, Mancini was responsible for setting up and maintaining the Shirley Povich Press Box for home games, delivering statistics to coaches and media members, as well as recording and transcribing post-game interviews for media use.
Mancini also worked as an intern for the Vermont Lake Monsters (single-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s) during the summer of 2009 in Burlington, Vermont. He served the Hamilton College Sports Information Department as a statistician and interned for the Amsterdam Mohawks (Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League) prior to his stint in Minor League Baseball.
A native of Fonda, N.Y., Mancini earned his Bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College in 2010 and his Master’s degree from Georgetown University in 2011. At Hamilton, he was a member of the football and baseball teams.
